The ‘Consultative Coaching' Approach to Leadership Development

At Starr we combine mentoring and coaching in the same development session to help clients better understand the practice of leadership as well as help them to practise that understanding in their workplace. This we call ‘Consultative Coaching'. We work on the ‘outside in', mentoring a leader in the hard skills to lead effectively, whilst simultaneously coaching from the ‘inside out' to develop the soft skills such as self awareness, self management and relationship skills.

In order to fill any identified gaps in the leader's arsenal of tools and techniques we draw on a range of leadership models and concepts, which are brought into developmental conversations as and when relevant, so that their practicality can be clarified and later applied by the leader in the workplace.
